    350x Bottom End Swap

    Hey guys,

Just got a quick couple of questions for anyone that knows. I have a 1986 350x that I'm needing to quickly replace the bottom end on. I've got my eyes on a 1985 bottom end. I've gathered that there are a few differences motor wise between the two years. My question is, will I have any trouble swapping in an 85 bottom end on my 86? Are there any other parts I'll have to swap or should it be a swap n' go kind of deal? I've heard differences about the clutch cable routing or something, but not exactly sure if that will make a difference?

    Thanks,
    Nick

I'm not for sure, but I believe that the stators and stator wiring are different. I'm no expert. I've just had the same 1985 since 2003.

Clutch cable routing is different from 85 to 86 and the 86 has better piling than the 85

For the stator differences, they are different, stator + flywheel does swap as a set, and the 86 style is the upgrade so would be ideal to keep that. Crank is the exact same part number so it's a pretty simple swap. I wouldn't think there would be much else for major differences that really matter. I think the crank case vent tube is at a different angle but doesn't really change anything.
