    HONDA 5HP OHC motor help....

I had to tear down my 5HP OHC Honda horizontal shaft pressure washer.

I put it back together and the governor is not working.

It seems to work off of RPM, throws out a weight, turns a shaft and regulates the throttle position.

To me, I should be able to take the play out in one direction and it should do it's job. I cannot find marks, dots, lines etc etc to get this aligned if nheed be, but again, I feel it works off of RPM's PERIOD!!

I've searched online online to spend 2 hours on useless junk......

Any input would be LOVELY and no, I'm NOT buying a manual.............

    Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

A model/serial number of both the power washer and the engine itself would help.

you shouldn't have removed the governor arm from the shaft. theres no reason to, unless your replacing the governor. and only idiots fool wth it. i've had to fix so many engines where people think they know what there doing and move the governor arm. and thats never the problem, it just makes it run worse. and escpecially on a honda, theres to many springs and crap to get screwed up. now i'll help after i rambled on!

you have to put it at full throttle, loosen the governor shaft clamp(the bolt that clamps it to the shaft) and turn the shaft either to the right or left, all the way. i forget exactly how a honda goes. they don't need fixing much! but you have a 50/50 chance. just make sure you don't over rev the engine.

I found some Honda shop manuals, I think you have a GC160 engine, (if not, there's more models there). Not sure if this will help you.

    Straight to the GC160 http://www.honda-engines-eu.com/en/images/991.pdf

    Thanks for all the help.....

Mine has no throttle arm, it's on a pressure washer. The throttle is controlled solely by the engine RPM's (IMO)

I had to remove the arm, or I would have had to deal with linkages and other springs etc to get the case cover off.

I'll dick with it a bit today, thanks again
