My 250R Recreation: From Stock to a Semi Drag Bike
Well....I guess All of my pics and info on my build has been over at DDR.

So Let me start out with how my bike was in the beg.

Bone Stock 85 250R. BONE STOCK meaning original air filter, pipe etc. Then before the 08 Rampage I decided to put on a PTR pipe, Answer silencer and a k&n with outerwear. She ran great for being on its Stock bore and really suprised me with the power it had.

But, Then came when I kept getting beat by Boss, Jen, Cory and all the other trikers in my group.

Good Ole Duner II aka Cory got me on into this racing addiction. So I decided I needed to make my bike a hair faster. So this is where the build comes in to play:

I started out with a budget of $600 LOL yea and surpassed that up real quick lol.

Yanked the motor out. And picked my engine builder. Wanted to have a engine builder that was a little bit different then Dave Moore, Or DTR racing etc here in town. Pete at Hybrid Engineering in Camas, Wa was the man I went with. I told him I want to go fast on a budget. He recommended his 265 package. Which included O-ringing the head for race gas, Milled the dome, Dune/Drag Port/Polish, New Piston etc. So I went with it. He estimated 50hp at the wheels with a different pipe like a PTR High rev...I have the PTR type 6 (old school version)!

Well then I bought V-Force 2's reed and reed cage along with the spacer. Also came with the bigger intake boot. Bought a 39mm Mikuni Carb that was fully gone through and pre-jetted. Lastly ESR's Air Box eliminator with their outerwear.

I was already having troubles keeping the front end down with the stock 246cc motor. And I knew that it would be even more of a PITA with the new motor and goodies. So got a good deal on a Podos Racing Chrome +8 swingarm. Really didnt want anything longer than a +6 but it was one of those good enough deals that i just could not go wrong. So here I am with the swingarm. I bought a pivot works bearing kit. Wanted to make sure the needle bearings etc were going to be new and unmolested. Used my stock 85 R carrier and the bearing and seals looked dang near new so I figured why replace them. Bought a 26" Stainless Steel Brake line and 2 Black Billet Mod Quad brake line clamps. Also bought a Banshee Chain slider made by Mod quad too. Went with a Regina Gold chain....didnt know chain was that expensive lol!

Lastly Bought a Mohawk front tire and Douglas 11" wheel. New Spider Grips, Thumb throttle, Throttle cable.
Went with Engine Ice for coolant, Brad Penn semi Synthetic oil and Maxima 927 Premix mixed with 110 Race gas!

Hopefully she will be fast enough....if not time to call up ESR for a bigger Cyl and a Stroker Crank!

    Please feel free to comment!

Nice looking R! A properly built 265 will run strong. But i've seen some extremely healthy 310's. Seems to be a nice middle of the road size for the R. But then a 330 is roughly the same cost.... Oh boy, tough choices for the liquid R owner.

I plan on doing a ESR 350 Cyl and a 5 mil Stroker Crank! That should make the difference!

I was told that this 265 should out run most 310's out there! Thats why I opted for this set up for the price! If it was me and because you have to machine the cases for the 330 then why not just do the 350. 370's are an option too but they have cooling issues.

350 with a 4 or 5 mill will do me fine i think. This build was just a start in that direction lol!
