    250R Best year???

New to this forum, proud owner of 3 trikes all honda 110, 185 big red and 250 sx. I have been thinking about getting a 250R and would like some opinions about the best year and the pros cons of waters vs air cooled. thanks

1985, it has the best headlight arangement and the nice small seat. I don't think much changed between '85 & '86

Everybody is just going to tell you their favorites.

1986 has always been my favorite. I've had a couple of 85's but prefer the 86. I like the taller seat better. The bigger headlight. The slightly increased rake. Engine color. The 86 came with a better carb. Better looking decals. 1986 absolutely had a better rear carrier setup. That's all minor and very easily changed stuff though. 1985 did have some issues with the kickstarter but it's not that big a deal. Between those two years I'd say get whichever one you find the best deal on.

The air cooled models are ok too. I'll have one eventually just for something different. If I had to choose just one though, it's no contest between water and air cooled models. The water pumpers have far better suspension, way more aftermarket goodies, more power, more top speed. It's an evolution from the earlier models so it's pretty much better in every category. There's some die hard air fooler fans on here that will disagree but I disagree with their disagreement.

I agree, 86. So many small but significant changes over 85. But the 85's are still very nice.

Ditto on what DAMMIT said. 86R is the only way to fly IMO.

I like my 87 the best, it's red with white shrouds and the ATC logo is different. Unfortunately, my mom says it has to go so I'm gonna part it out....

Even the sticker says 87, but no one believes me but my mom, and my cat too .

I'd post a picture but my hamster ate my memory card and then the unicorn swallowed the USB cable. FRICKEN UNICORNS!!!!!!!!!

Anyhow, although I love my 87 (I got it in Sweden and brought it home in duffel bags) I call the 86 250R a very close second with it's rake changed ever so slightly. Not to mention the brake changes and numerous other nice little goodies

You should ride a 84 air fooler. I have both the 85 and 86. And oh yea, a 84. The suspension on the 84 is nothing to laugh about. Plus it's the sharpest looking ATC250R. Just for starters.

Save your pennies and fork out for the best of the best trike, an 86 Tecate. After that you'll be saying, "what's a 250R?"
