Need some ideas on rear lighting

My friend and i are hoping to use my trikes to do some night fishing this spring, but neither my 125M or my 200e have tail lights.....is there any type of LED light or other type of tail light that would serve the purpose until i can get the right ones? We will be riding a lot of dusty gravel roads and it might be hard to see each other without some type of rear light. Any suggestions?

You can get any trailer light or vehicle light at your local auto store or Walmart. Those lights will work just fine but you wont have the brake light part of the bulb to work. I would just use the brake light wire as the regular wire so its brighter.

Yes that will work fine. Its only a 2 wire (one way bulb) so its just like the atc lights. Just find you a way to mount it and you are good.

dont have a way to post apic but, i have a l.e.d. taillight on my 82 185s its is an oval looking and flat with ruber molding around it. just made a new braket out of aluminum diamond plate. i'll try to get a pic.-----anyway, if you put one on you must add a voltage regulator from a pitbike or something else. i went thru 3 before i figured this out. l.e.d. is alittle costly, about $20. it is combination stop, tail, turn. just wire it up as if the brake was always on.(brightest) oh yeah- autozone or advance auto sell the light.

Buy a complete yamaha tail light assembly. You can get any Tri-Z, blaster, banshee or ytm tail light for less than $30 brand new with a new bulb in it.

Here was the setup on my 185s:

I used some muffler strap and I think that tail light was from a Kawasaki bike. As long as you have the wires about anything should work. 12v is 12v.

I used a clearance light, like 18 wheelers have on the sides of their trailers, on the back of my 200m.

I keep poping the bulds on my 250r. It has a little trailer light on it. I need to figure out a way to keep it from doing this or get another type of light. Any ideas?? would a voltage regulator work, and where can I get one?

It's not any one wire that makes the bulb brighter, it's the tighter wound filament in the bulb.

I cannabilized a 12v LED trailer light from Wal-Mart. Four LED's were mounted to the circuit board with a two wire lead. I installed this into the factory taillight housing on my SX and added the factory style plug to the wires. Looks completely factory, but is far brighter. I did this for brightness (helps at night or when the taillight is all dirty) and because the regular bulbs kept blowing anytime I got near water.

I took it one step further too. I unplug the taillight's plug from the three-wheeler, and plug the taillight into a plug jumped off the taillights of my truck. When I touch the brakes on the truck, the trike's taillight comes on just as bright.

So, i'll have to have a voltage regulator to run just a regular 12v light, like the light i posted on ebay above? I thought i could just wire it up and it would work.....

No, plug and go. You bike should have some sort of regulator already
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.
