    Tricks to install new grips?

I have the old ones off... but I just can't get the new ones on. They are the correct size (have one slightly larger for the twist throttle).

I get them on 1" or so and get stuck.

What do you guys do to get them on?

i use brake cleaner to clean off the handlebars real well then spray a little in the grip and slide them on. but not sure if brake cleaner will do anything to the plastic of twist throttle. after you get them on let them sit and the brake cleaner will dry up and they usually dont move after that.

Hmm, wonder if that hurts the rubber on the grips? That stuff is caustic haha

I use compressed air lift up the grip alittle put your air nozzle if you have a blast nozzle blow gun what have you under the grip alittle then blast and pull works great if you have a person there to pull the grip when you blast the air!! or hairspray if the woman has any use that it will dry tacky on the inside as well!

+1 for Hairspray. I just did new grips on both my 350x and 250r the other day. Spray the bar with a nice high rated strong hold hairspray and you'll be good to go. I been using hairspray since the BMX days

Compressed air works wonders. Poke a small hole in one end of the grip on only one grip. Block the opposite end of the handlebar with hand and put the grip on, and blow air in the hole. Slides right on.

Than for the other end put finger over the hole in the grip. and do the same as the other side.

Real simple and no mess to deal with.

I have used spray paint for 20+ years and have never had one come off. Spray paint into the grip put it on, wipe it off. Done.

I usually use methanol (also dries up nice compared to oilier stuff) to lube things up when sliding it on and for taking it off i use a syringe u can slide that in pump some methanol in there and it will come off easy.

I use the hairspray method to install and use air or wd40 sprayed between the grip and handlebars to remove.
