50cc Suzuki leaking gas....Want to fix it for my son

My son has a bike in the pic below. It is a 50cc 2 stroke. It seems to run fine, but everytime he stops for a minute and lets it idle gas pours out of a little drain tube coming out the bottom of the carb. It doesn't do it when he is moving and on the gas. Does anyone know what is up with that? Is it something that is fairly easy to fix? Something I need to clean on the carb? Like I said, it runs fine, but it is using alot of gas because if it leaking out of that tube.

Oh, and don't laugh at the basketball goal. It's the only one I can dunk.....white men can't jump!

    Thanks!!!!

Yep, float is sticking or the valve is shot. Rip the carb apart and make sure everything moves freely and the float is adjusted to the right level.

Thanks for the replies guys!! I still have 2 questions. 1. Which number would be the float valve in the pic below? I know what the float is, number 33, but there is nothing on bike bandit that say's float valve. 2. How do I know the float is at the proper adjustment?

I figure if I am going to take the bike apart, I might as well just replace whatever is messing up because the parts are just a few bucks.

    Thanks Again!!

I cant exactly see it in the pic, but it is the little pin (with a tapered head) that will close when the float bowl is full. remove the float bowl on the carb, hook up the fuel line and move the float up and down. Make sure when the float is all the way up the gas has stopped flowing into the bowl. You adjust it by bending a small piece of metal that pushes the valve down. It should not need adjusting unless it has been messed with before.

there is what the valve should look like. Oh but without all the damage, I just couldnt find a better pic of one.

Wanted to come back and thank you all again. I tore it down yesterday and sure enough, the float bowl and the valve was full of gunk. I soaked it and cleaned it all with carb cleaner and it runs like a top. No leaking gas at all. My son and I thank ya'll!!!
