    What year is my 185s?

I have a 185s but I'm not relly sure what year it is. Its two piece wheels, rigid frame, the rear plastic fenders split into two pieces , and its got a small trunk lid behind the seat. I was thinking it could be an 82 but it might be older. I can seem to find the VIN numbers.

Must be an ATC200. All 185Ss had one piece fenders. ATC185 was only made for one year and had a round headlight - but it did have the same rear fenders as the ATC200 - but they were more orange in color. I am guessing that is an ATC200 with a 185s tank.

Check the engine for a CM3 size cast in for engine size.

The square headlight could be off of something else because the brackets are welded onto the forks and it does not look stock.

as far as I know the 185 / 200cc motors never had points - they are all CDI. My 1980 ATC185 has CDI ignition.

BTW - that is a 1982 gas tank - but as I mentioned - the rest of the machine is an ATC200. The fenders and 9" wheels give that away. ATC185Ss all had 8" wheels and one piece rear fenders. Also - that is an ATC200 seat.

That means that I probably have two 200's and only one 185. Where is the VIN on your 1980 ATC185?

Thats deff. a 82, solid forks, the tank scheme is 82, and a square headlight, if it was pre-82, the light would be round.

1981 had a square headlight. 1980 was the only 185 with a round headlight. The only other Hondas that had round headlights were early 110s and late 90s. That is not the right headlight on that machine.

I agree with atctim that it's a 200 with a 185s tank. The only year that had a 185 engine with the split rear fender is the '80 185. 1981 to 1983 185s is all one piece.

    which model 185s

this is from atcheaven.com parts section

Introduction of ATC185, first model to graduate from "pressed steel" to "tubular frame" Nice bike with plenty of horsepower that was lacking in previous models. Seperate rear fenders with tool box, this model targeting the "Work Horse" market. 180cc engine, 12v electrical system.

    Engine Number TB01E-2000013~

ATC185 models became the ATC185S in 81, "S" denoting sports, new tank design, 1 piece rear fender, round headlight replaced with rectangular unit, tail light and rear carry rack revised. Brake drum enclosed within cover plate, minor difference in rear axle.

    Engine Number TB01E-2100001~

Few changes worthy of note for 82 models, decompression cable incorperated into pull starter, kill switch goes from top of thumb throttle case to left side combination switch, new design air cleaner & air box, tank and rear fender decals change. Headlight switch moved from top of headlight to bar mounted combination switch

    Engine Number TB01E-2200001~

Last year of production for the ATC185S. 83 models get new "Front Suspension" fuel tank shape gets smoothed out, air cleaner and air box get re-designed, rear sprocket gets revised damping arrangement, front & rear rim becomes one-piece, minor changes to front brake panel

    Engine Number TB01E-3000008~

Looks like my 1982 185s with a square head light that I have in my garage.

    My guess is it's an 82 185s..
