need help with 350x carrier questions

heres the deal, I got an 85 with shot bearings and my sprocket is toast to. the bad news is the chain tensioner teeth are almost gone. wanted to just buy a billet carrier with new bearings but all i've seen say there for the 86 350x. 1 site said will work if you use an 86 sprocket. now this is the confusing part. i just bought a 86 sprocket off ebay after going to the honda site and it saying there the same sprocket! has anyone done this and what are the differances? my sprocket nuts(on the carrier side) are all hogged up anyway so will have to be replaced. I would love to just replace the bearings but have to find a fix for the chain tensioner. any help would be great . thanks

if you use the 86 carrier and sprocket, you're gonna have to get the bolts as well, i ran into the same problem,, the 86 rear sprocket holes are recessed, and the 85 bolts wont fit, they will rub the carrier, I took my sprocket and hogged out the holes a little bit, and went to the hardware store and got some hardened coned bolts with lock nuts, and everything is fine

I forgot to mention, the carrier that I got is made by lonestar, double row bearrings, for an 86. The differences are all in the chain tensioner area, the 85 is alot more narrow than the 86 here is a pic of the difference

that is the reason for the different bolts as well, just for clearance for the carrier

go with the 86 350x Rad carrier...i have it and love it...also the only problem is that the 85 bolts stick out to far and hit the carrier...check the sprocket you have and see if one side is made for countersunk bolts..mine did...all i did was go to the hardware store and found the bolts with the smallest heads i could and i havent had a problem since

Hey Tank, I still think your carrier is installed 180 degrees off. Ya can't get to the chain adjustment bolts the way yours is installed
