    Big Bad Red

Hey everyone! Well my 1985 Big Red is almost done with the rebuild! I put a 4 stroke tech 305 big bore kit in, a brand new cobra exhaust system. The racks, headlight guard, footpegs, kickstarter & frame have all been powdercoated black. I was wodering if I am gonna have to get a bigger carb or maybe re jet it cause of the exhaust & bigger displacement (from 248cc-305cc) & I will put pics on here as soon as I get it all back together!

Yeah you'll most definetely have to rejet. If you want to keep it as a "torque monster" you can keep the stock smallbore carb, it will make more power from idle to 3/4 throttle. A larger carb will make more power at wide open.

    WE NEED PICS.

well big red was smoking ALOT! Rings were gone! So I had planned on just putting new ones in, & my buddy said "well why don't you just call up FOURSTROKETECH & order a big bore kit", I was like they don't make anything like that for a BIG RED! Well they do make them! It costs $307 shipped to your door! It cosists of a bigger piston, new rings, sleeve & gaskits. Its not done yet, will be picking it up sometime this week! So wish me luck!

You can probably get them at your local Honda dealer (or any dealership for that matter) or get a "power up" kit for the Big Red (K&N filter, jets)

What's the front offset and bolt pattern? You could probably get a 12" aluminum rim, don't know for sure though.

As for the power up kit, not totally sure about that either. I am willing to bet you can get a jet kit for it though, Dynojet or something. Maybe just see what jets are in it right now and get some Keihin or whatever jets with a good margin of error, and then dial it in.

    4/5 is the offset.

And, 'rims' are on a bike, "wheels" are on trikes and quads.

Yeah if you can get a 12" wheel with 4/5 offset and 4/110 bolt pattern that'd be sick!

I think it's not gonna fit 26" outlaws in the front, without modifying the fork length.

get a 12 inch REAR rim and have it cut and rewelded buy a machine shop to the correct offset you need for the front, I have this done for my 250R racer so I can run a 10 inch front rim for better tire selection, and its fairly reasonable, just find a plain steel or aluminum rim and have them cut the difference out and reweld it back for you.

since the big red has a drum front brake, u'd need to get a big bell wheel, i would think.... keep that in mind... ofcourse you could always make your own bracket and use disc brakes and a disc brake front hub assembly? that would be neat...
