ha, ha.....yep, it rubs on the forks too. I had a set of these on a 85 350X that I had back in 86 and didnt like them back then much either but they were pretty cheap and back then cheap was cheap so I bought them. Plus I didnt have the luxury of reading all of this valuable input that we now have at our fingertips.......how did we ever survive without the internet?
Yes, to answer your question, the 85 is up for sale. I buy and sell alot of vintage dirtbikes and parts and ATC's and such. Really, anything with a motor. Usually I find things that have had years of abuse heaped on them and then they sit for 20 years and then I come along and spend too much money bringing them back to life and enjoying them with my kids and then I sell them to move on to the next toy. I like taking old, beatup stuff and making it shine again just like the days I used to own them. It makes me feel good reliving all those old rides and jumps and wheelies and injury's too. And all the good buddies I used to have when life was simple.....but thats a whole different story.
Anyways I am sure the 81 will roost some snow here in another month or two and then probably move on in the spring being replaced by something else that comes my way. Im selling the 85 because I am not a collector and its really nice and should be owned by somebody who collects them, IMHO anyways. The 81 will be more of a rider to chase my kids on the snowmobile with, now all I have to do is rig up some heated grips!

If so, PM me how much. Can you wait till spring ? Come on, SELL IT TO ME, GIVE ME SOME INFO ON IT MAN!

Bultaco Pursang, YAM DT1 or hwat ever they were called? RM's, all kinds of cool STUFF !! All your clutter is at least CLEAN clutter, very NICE!!

You part a lot of them out ? Not the pursang I hope!

Check this out, you'll like this !! I don't like the red wheels though but still very VERY cool!!

ha, ha.....the pics make it look worse then it is, I have little aisles I maneuver in. Its a good thing im skinny at 6'2" and 240lbs. !! Yes, most everthing I have is pretty clean, I dont like working on dirty junk. Hidden off in the corner is a 1981 Honda CR250 that I just about have finished too, just needs a pipe and rear wheel bearings. The bike your lusting over is a 96 CR5hunny and NOT for sale. I just picked that up last week. It was so dirty you couldnt tell what it was. I thought it was a nightrider bike!!! no lie......I am keeping that though as I got a good deal on it and it has alot of aftermarket goodies on it like oversized rotors front and rear, skid plate, frame guards, pro circuit exhuast, hydro clutch and I just put wide pegs on it last night and ordered a 15 OZ flywheel and tall GUTS racing seat. It also has Pro Circuit suspension for a 160lb MX'er so at 240LB it should work decent for me in the woods. I love 500's, I havent had one since '95 so I am looking forward to riding it. Most everything else in there is almost finished. I converted all the RM's to sealed headbearings which involved turning the stems down. You missed the Polaris 4 wheeler under the shirt that the Bultaco is leaning against!!! LOL...I dont part any of these out. The Yamaha on the lift is a '69 AT1 125 enduro and the other Yamaha is a 78 DT250 that is really clean but has no spark. I think its the coil and points. I always have 10 projects at once going on, my wife gets pizzed and my kids just laugh and ask "Does this one run???"
That Marty Smith bike is pretty cool but like you I dont like the tires, black rims with regular tires would have looked better I think.

nice ride, that's in great shape. Wheelie's all around I bet. The 500 with the flywheel weight isnt really that bad and is soooooooooo easy to maintain compared to alot of the new fourstrokes. I fill the bars with silicone and put dual sport grips on it, ProGrip 719's I think, to kill some of the vibes and as long as you dont try to ride it like a 125 it's great. 3rd gear is really all you need....

LOL, those 450's are fun, I just dont want to work on one! Thats a great looking bike you have there. Do you go thru alot of Westleys Bleachwhite? I did have a 02 YZ250F with a 80MM big bore kit in it and it was a really versatile bike but add 20-30 lbs of mud and it just got too heavy late in the day, or at least it felt heavy. Probably doesnt have anything to do with the fact that I do more 12OZ curls a day then I do pushups!! LOL....

Don't know why so many think white is hard to take care of, I never had a problem keeping it clean and it doesn't show scratches hardly at all, well, I should say didn't because I don't have it any more.

I plan on going back to 2 stroke Honda's next year though for just the reason you say, waaay less costly to maintain and faaar easier to work on.

    250F.....nice bikes !

Snooze time for me, good night!
