    Clunking sound coming from axle

I have an 86 250R and the axle is clunking pretty badly on turns. I did find that the big nut on the right side axle had come loose. Do I have to take that assembly apart to fix clunking? Does it just need readjustment? There is a bolt with a crush ring on the outside of the carrier, does that need grease?

I did have the axle carrier below water a lot the last time I rode, so I may need to repack the bearings with grease. Just wondering what you guys suggest...

    Happy Holidays.

    Yup

Your going to need some new axle bearings and seals. 20-30 bucks on Ebay. Pull the axle out and check them.

If it was your bearings, it could be your caliper knocking off the disc. Thats what happened to mine. It still does even with new bearings but its because the pads are shot.

I found out that the sprocket was worped and it was catching the chain on an edge. I ordered a 38 tooth sprocket for it today. I will see if that fixes the problem. I noticed when it clunked the chain looked like it was wanting to come off.
