Carlisle tires
Attachment 37424I need some new rear tires for my 85' Yamaha Tri-Moto 225DRN. I am thinking about the Carlisle "Badlands" or "Turf Tamers" in the stock size of 22x11-8. The trails I ride might have some sand in spot's, soft dirt, root's, and a little mud after the rain. Anyone know which tire would be the best one? Thanks

I have Maxxis all-trax on my Z. They work really well, and the tread is really deep too.

Carlisle is one of the oldest in the business and the turf taimer is an excellent tire that has been copied many times.

Thank you, The owner of a tire store that sell's then said "the Badlands would be better", but the Turf Tamers look like they would take a little more abuse, and I like the way they look. I have Wooly Boogers on now, that are dry rotting.

The badlands only come in 25? And 26 i believe? But I had them on some of my old 4x4s as stock tires and they seem to be alot better than the junk dunlops manufacturers put on there.

i have tuff tamers on my bike there nice for trails(not good for dounuts, they grip to much), but i would like a little more argrssive.

i have run the 20" badlands. They are a holeshot copy. I got a good deal on them and they worked well for me. I dont think they are as good as maxxis razors or holeshots, but if the price was right i would buy them again.

I have kenda vipers on my 350x and ride in similar riding conditions. So far I am very happy with them. I have had wooly boggers on some of my other trikes and they were pretty good also. As far as the turf tamers go, I had them on my old trx 70 and loved them, and I am going to buy a set for my x as well.

I was wrong on the size, the wooly boggers are 22x12-8. Super90, I think your thinking about the other Badlands? The one's I'm talking about also come in 22 inch size, and I think 20 inch and 18 inch as well.

Yeah i just checked, they do come in thoes sizes. Does anyone have pics of them in that small? I know that arctic cat and polaris use them on there quads.

The Turf Tamer is a great track tire, when the track is dry. Most of the MX racers here run them for the track. They are an awful mud tire when compared to anything else. For mud and sand, they are lame compared to anything else. They are also very thin and puncture easily when used as a trail tire. The best mud, sand, and trail tires are of the more rounded profile types, but if you are determined to go with a flat profile tire, stick with a Holeshot, Razer or similar type.

Ok, I was leaning more to the Badlands now, but are they as thin as the Turf Tamers? Is a flat profile tire bad for the trails? My next choice of tire if the Carlisles are not a good tire is the Kenda Klaw, I think they are 6ply and the Badlands maybe 2 or 3ply? I am not sure what ply my Wooly Boggers are, but except for the dry rott, I have not had any problems with them. Thanks

Yeah, I saw them on a go-cart at the TSC store, and they look like a good tire. I just hope they hold up well? I don't ride on any ruff rocks, just a root on a trail now and then.
