I just picked up a 89 honda nx250, but could'nt ride It because the rear wheel Is gone. Was wondering how good they run. Do they have alot of torque, does It rev anything like a newer crf motor.
Thanks Jason.

Is that the street legal bike? I haven't heard BAD things about it.. Most that I have heard is that it likes to make power in the top, if I am correct..Are we talking about the same thing?
Rest in peace Rex Carlson
I don't have expierience with them other than seeing one or two in the trails, but I can tell you that it WILL NOT EVER rev like a four stroke race bike. IIRC they're derived from the XR/XL250

The NX 250 motor Is a dual overhead bucket style cam like the Yamaha 450's. It should run good I would think especially with a decent carb. Like one from a CRF 250.

Ok, still, it's not going to act like a modern race bike, if it did, they would have been racing them.

honda nx250 is just like yamaha 450s. i have not driven it too much times but i have listened too much about that from my friends.
you need a motor ??? my brother has one he wants to sell
My sister's boyfriend had one at the time I had a KLR250. It was a lot more bike and I believe it was a 6 speed and ran considerably faster. It also seemed like it was more top end oriented than my KLR, which seemed pretty torquey. It may have been the gearing or something, but still a very nice bike. I doubt it runs like one of the new 250s though.

ive only seen 2 nx250s here around me in 16 years. they are rare. i think they were made a year or to. 88 and 89?
A buddy of mine kept his in my garage for 2 years, I rode it it several times on the street. For the year, it's a torquey little bike. it was a dog in the woods, though, so I added a 1/2" spacer in the fork tubes to stiffen the springs, it helped a little. They're great little street bikes, I'd definitely pick one up if I ran across one.
I think they were manufactured in 88 & 89(?), the other year was white, IMO, the better looking of the 2 years
