Independent rear suspension go-kart?

Hey all. I've recently been stripping down my second-hand Manco go-kart, and I've got to wondering: How hard would it be to make it into a nice sand-machine... Well, I got to thinking about that, and soon I had an idea. I would use the front suspension and drive-train off of a King Quad 300 in the rear of the cart, and mount a chain-drive engine laterally across the frame. There would be a sprocket attached to the driveshaft where it comes out of the diff-housing. Shifting would be controlled by a series of linkages and a stick-shifter on the left or right side of the cart. Clutch duties would be handled by the auto clutch in the engine I will use, probably something like a Big Red or a Zuk 250 chain-drive engine, maybe something bigger. Braking would be handled by the hydraulic braking system of the King Quad, and the stock drums would be used.

Front suspension would he a Quadracer 250R setup chopped and welded to the front.

Use a Polaris rear suspension, then you can use any motor with chain drive. I am in the parts gathering process for a simular project. I am going to use a sno-mobile engine and a jack shaft to get the belt drive to chain, also will give me more gearing options off of the jack shaft simply by changing tooth count on the front and rear sprockets. Just an idea, good luck on the project.
