    Snowmobile motor in what quad?!?!

I just picked up a 440 air cooler motor out of an older sled. I would like to slap it into a quad. What i need your guys opinion on is what chassis would be the eaisest and most affordable. I have no concern how of good it looks or how good it handles around corners. I just want a straight line rocket. Also i know its going to require custom motor mounts and a lot of welding and perfect fit but i can handle all that

My first idea was a blaster

    What do you guys think??

yeah a ds 650 would have a lot of room but i think those rolling chasis would probably cost a lot of more than i want for this project

    Anybody else have idears?

Any older polaris quad, might as well have the ultimate sleeper.

yea Ive seen alot of polaris's with snow motors in them as they still have the auto hooked up, I think te biggest was some kind of three cyl 900 in a polaris trail blazer it was stupid fast

yea from what I was told alot of polaris snowmobile motors will actually bolt right in a polaris quad, the only big mod is getting the pipes to workl and the motors will hook right up to the cvt trans

the bad thing is my motor isnt a polaris its out of a scorpion i believe....that might make the entire bolt up thing a little bit more difficult

well the good thing about the polaris is the cvt makes it easy to have a trans, also the porlais's frame is flat under the motor for easier mounting, plus Ive seen blown polaris's go for cheap

not neccasarily true I think they mean this chassis. but it will not be bolt in the polaris quads use p85 clutches and snow mobiles use p90(I may have that back words. polaris secondarys for quads use a thiner belt, and they mount on splines, snowmobile secondary clutches use a key way to keep them in place and a larger belt.

ive known to people to try this, first one had to use a jack shaft as he seriously stweaked his frame from the torque first time out, the tranny literly pulled at the mounts and bent the frame up by the swinger.

the second I beleive did extensive frame reinforcement and a jack shaft. heres a pic of mine with no motor maybe it will give you a space idea, the second pic is of the machine my friend in Louisianna built.

I am doing the same thing, except differant. I am going to take a quads suspension and make a buggy with a sled motor, using the rear from a polaris and the front from a blaster. I am going to use a fiberglass seat from an old circle track racer. The main reason that I am going this route is that all my parts are going to be free, even the two quads and most of the metal. The only thing I am going to have to spend money on is the motor because I am going to get the whole sled and use everything that i can, gauges and the like. Good luck on the quad though, should be a bad ass ride that would give most modd'd shees a run for their money.

There are no stupid questions, but there are alot of stupid people out there that ask questions.

None of us are capable of screwing things up as bad as a group of us.

Best thing to swap a snow mobile engine into would have to be a Honda FL250, not quite a quad but fun none the less
