    Picked up a Honda 185..

Hey guys. As you all know I've been looking for a Honda 185 or 200cc engine for a while now. Today I managed to pick up an almost complete Honda 185 three wheeler for $50!!! That was an awsome deal. The thing had almost all the parts there, but the engine dosent run and all three tires are rotten. Im trying to figure out whats wrong with it, it must be froze up because it dosent pull over. I sprayed some penetrating oil into spark plug hole and am going to let it sit in there overnight. The engine will be used in my 85' 200x rolling chassis. As far as I know, the engine should bolt right in. This is where a few questions come in. If I put this 185 engine in, will I need a 200x carburator, and exhaust? Will they fit right onto the engine? If anyone else has made this conversion, please give me a few pointers and tell me what I need to do. Thanx again.

The 185 motor will bolt right up to the 200x frame. I think you have to use the 200x exhaust, and it will bolt up with no problems. You can run either carb on either trike with either motor, definately use the one from the x if you have it (it's bigger), otherwise the 185 carb will work fine. You will have to do some rigging to get the rear brakes to work and there are some wiring changes that need to be made (don't know how to do them), but you might be able to swap the whole wiring harness over from the 185s to the 200x (don't really know for sure). Good luck, glad you finally found your motor.

    the auto 200x..

It turns out that the piston is rusted in the cylinder, and it wont budge. It was sitting for a few years with the top of the carb missing, and my guess is that a bunch of water got into it. The timing chain including sprocket were in good shape and the cdi was in excellent shape. We are going to have to take the whole lower head off and bore the head out and get a bigger size piston and rings. No big deal really. I hope the thing has spark. I also found out that the engine dosent bolt right into the 200x chassis. All the mounts seem to work except for the front mounts. The front motor mount plates are diffrent, and will not work. I am going to have to make my own plates or figure something else out. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. If this project is ever done, it will be a sweet automatic X.

I am still looking for the following parts
    *83-85 200x sprocket
    *200x carburator

Who has made this swap before, switching the 200x engine to the 185 or 200s engines? What parts did you have to modify and what problems did you come across?

The only thing I had to modify was the rear brake peddle and the wiring harness. The brake peddle was the harder of the 2 modifications and it wasn't that hard.

    piston still stuck

I have a question for anyone who can answer it. The piston is stuck in the lower head of my engine, and it wont budge. It is rusted in. I cant even get the lower head off. Whats the best way to get it free? I tried soaking it for a few days now with WD40 and penetrating oil, and neither have worked. I even tried heating the side of the head with a torch, and it never broke free. Whats the best solution for this problem? I dont really want to take the whole engine apart. Can anyone help?

    the engine

Its still stuck. I asked this guy I know if he had any ideas on what I should do. He sugested pouring some Coca Cola classic on top of the piston. He said he has tried it before on his tractor and it worked. Does this seem like a good idea?

P.S. Blazerone22, what did you use for the front mtor mounts?
