    Pvl, Motoplat, Cr Ignition

Will any of these make a noticable change in how my engines perform? And what can I expect?
    3 CR500R's and counting. Do I really need 4???
Do I really need 9 Tigers?

PVL bought out motoplat. They are virtually the same ignitions. I run the PVL on the KX500. Its very high quality and made in Germany

I run a PVL on my 330 ice bike. It works well. The bike is apart for some updating, so I have a pic of the ignition.

Yes. I hopped the stock 250R system. Also put a GM HEI system off a Camaro on it.

http://gl1200harness.tripod.com/ (hit the "Modified 250R ignition systems" link at bottom of the page)

Theres plenty more in the stock 250R system if you know how to get it out. The stocker isnt much different from the CR.

The flywheel size is what the advantage seems to be. Lets the motor wind up and wind down "a lot" faster then stock. I bought the KX setup for my Tecate and the flywheel is almost 2 inches smaller then stock.

yes that has a lot to do with thoes kinds of systems. but the same results from a stock set up...???? you get the spark not the rev

Flywheel size is part of it, but not the only benefit. You can set the timing wherever you want. I run my bike -5 because I rev the piss out of it, so it helps the bike run cooler and helps overrev on top end. I do sacrifice some mid range power, but the motor puts out plenty of power. The PVL also has a hotter spark. If you use alcohol or a big bore motor, it's recommended (although not required) to run a better ignition.

Yes, the Tri-Z and 250R electrical systems are the same design, the mods are the same. If you want any particulars, Email me.

Chris, loss of midrange power may be because of loss of flywheel weight. Its there for a reason, to store torque between strokes and send it to the transmission.

A high comp engine must have more spark voltage (at least) because a higher pressure in the plug gap takes more voltage to fire. If it doesnt have it, the plug will misfire, or timing has to be advanced earlier so it can fire when the pressure is lower, and that causes overheating.

Honda should have offered a high voltage ignition kit as an option for the 300cc kit.

What about these high output coils I see advertised? Could this be all you really need to get a hotter spark?
