    Polaris 250 motor differences?

Just wondering what the differences were inbetween the older polaris 244cc 2strokes found in late 80's/early 90's Trailboss and Scramblers versus the newer pingers found in, say a 2000 Trailblazer? Does anyone know if the jugs are the same?

Hmm, checking the Polaris web site ( http://parts.polarisind.com/Browse/Browse.asp ) they don't show the cylinder seperate from the motor. I even checked my Parts manual and they don't show it seperate either. hmmmm

Update!! I found you some infromation that should help. I looked up under crankshaft and cylinder assembly and they do have it listed seperaely. I looked up ATV, 1986, Scrambler : Cylinder:
I came up with this part number:
    11 3083769 CYLINDER Substituted by 3085541 (Incl. 12-14) 1 Usage
    12 3083618 STUD 6 Usage
    13 3080016 STUD (10) 2 Usage
    14 3083337 VALVE, CHECK Substituted by 3086785 1 Usage

I clicked on the Usage and I show these machines using the same Cylinder:

According to the Polaris web site the newest Cylinder that can be used is a 1996. I'm not saying a newer one wouldn't work, I am only going by what the Web site shows.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks a ton Howdy. I really appreciate you looking that stuff up! Very interesting, I was looking to buy a freshly bored cylinder and new piston out of a 2000 to put on my P3 and keep the old cylinder as a spare but I'm not sure if I should anymore. I might go ahead and try it anyway, but in the meantime I'll keep searching on the compatibility.

smackk: I really do just need to freshen up my top-end, but thanks anyway.
