ATC110 Valve Adjustment

Hello everyone...

I just got an '85 ATC110 and am in the process of going over it and giving it a good tune up. I don't have access to a service manual, so could someone give me a quick explanation of how you adjust the valves? I read a DirtWheels article on how to adjust the valves on a 200X I believe it was, so Im wondering how different the 110 would be. All help is appreciated...

I have a 110 maunal I could scan for you tomorrow night.

If I remember correctly you take the pull starter, spark plug and the top valve cover off.

Then move the recoil part with your hand till the piston is at top dead center. Get your feeler gauge out (valves should be .005) and check the valves. BUT if the valves are not loose rotate the recoil piece 360 degrees till it is at top dead center again. Once the valves are loose check it with the feeler gauge.

Repeat for the other valve.

Adjust the valves requires you to loosen the nut on the valve and take the screw in the center out the tiniest bit it it is too tight or take the screw in it it is too loose. Then tighten the nut again and your done.

What you explained is basically what the magazine said, so Im pretty sure I know what Im doing. If you could still scan the manual for me I would greatly appreciate it though. Thanks a lot.

One more question

At the end of page 2 it starts telling how to adjust the cam chain tensioner. Would you mind telling me how to go about doing this also? There was a rattle in it, so hopefully that was it and I can get rid of it. Thanks again.

hey 250sxwheeliepop ,
could you scan me the valve timing info on the 110.
i just got one and someone habd replaced the rings and the power is os jut there.
i believe the valve timing is off a tooth os two.
it pops back when it's running and boggs down off-idle.
