    yz490 in a tri z?

    Anyone put a yz490 engine in tri z? I have a yz490 engine minus carb and head. .

    Yeh i have and she screamed.It was out of a 83 yz 490 air cooled motor.Not very hard to do,just had to shim the motor i beleive to the sprocket side for chain allighnment.I also bought a 40mm carb for on it and ran the air filter out the back.Cuoldn't use the stock snorkle not enough room and had to use a zinger fuel tank up top.The exhaust was custom and had to cut a radiator shroud,another problem was the spark plug very tight to get in and out.That 490 was a tight fit in the 85 Z frame.I got pics somewhere.I'll try to post a pic.

    I was gonna do the same with a yz400 motor, but lack of space and money.

    Would like to see a pic if you have one.
    I have a extra frame and 85/86 triz that i could use some parts off until I get more cash

    I think i have a spare head for one, its the same as the 465 im pretty sure, shoot me a pm and a offer if ya want it..

    i seen an aircooled yz490 for sale.they guy said it was rebuilt but it wouldnt kick over.he wants 450.00 for it.

    Im rebuilding my 86 and was going to put a 490 air cooled with a 4 speed tranny in it I still have the motor but i opted to put the 6 speed in Im going to keep it maybe one day ill stuff it in one of my z"s. right now its just another paper weight!!! Ive heard of a couple but this is only after i was going to do it. love to see one done who got pic's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dont belive they are, if your wondring if the 490 fits in the blaster, the blaster needs some major stretching to fit from what i have seen.
