wouldent hurt to raise your exhaust up too, helps prevent stalling, and you stall with your exhaust under water, good luck getting started.

People who hate trikes seem to love stats. Statisticly speaking more people get hurt per year on 4 wheelers than they do on 3 wheelers, so why don't they just leave us alone?

Make sure your airbox cover seal, intake seals, exaust seals and recoil seals are good. (dont want water in any of them) it you do a momeade exaust stack make steady turns not sharp ones!

    good luck

Your 82 is chain driven so no shafts to seal up.... but do grease the hell out of the chain before you go.

Check the tranny breather tube going to the airbox.. seal all the hoses and lines etc.

If you wiring harness has been sliced and diced.. solder all the bad connections and heat shrink and tape them up good.

    Grease all bearings.

Your brakes will fill with water and grit etc.. so after the run. open the drums and dry them out good. and re-oil your cables.

Automotive GOOP ( brand name.. ) is awsome for sealing up all those things.

add air to the tires to help floatation.

ive had some experince with this on my 200s, tire pressure is essental.
water fun can be great! just shut it off before it flips if its going to!

water can be fun and it can be a pain in the but.

if you use a 200x aftermarket exhaust then you really dont have far to push the exhaust up with a snorkle.

i havent touched my air box. because the snorkle it has worked fine for me.

i beleive the 82 has the air box and takes air from under the seat.. and NOT up to the handlebars like the later 200 models.... be aware of that !

Question I have wondered about with tires. Would more air help or not? It seems like more air would be denser making it heavier. Having less air in same amout of volume seems like it would float better. Almost like a vacum, but vacum pressure wouldnt work in tires. I dont really know just always wondered???

large knobies work wonders in water with 5 pounds of air in them. they float VERY well and dont do to bad in many conditions!

    More air = More flotation.

    as simple as that.

Try sinking a half filled ballon.. then fill it up and try sinking it again !!!

I took a peak at my buddys 82 200 and you will definately have to redo the exhaust. His looks stock, the muffler is long, narrow and under the seat, what you'll want to do is get rid of that muffler and run pipe all the way to the back and put more of a stout cannister type muffler on. Use a funnel shaped silencer (should be easy to find for the cannister type, not so easy for the stock system) as a reducer. Put the silencer on, run a line of high heat silicone around to make the seal. Have any exhaust shop bend and elbo and an up pipe on the small end of the silencer, another 90 or even 180 degree bend at the top wouldent hurt eather. Also, for added stability weld 2 ams onto the up pipe that can be mounted to the back rack. The reason for using the silencer is that you can take the whole system off in a matter of minutes with a screw driver and a pocket knife if you want to do some hard riding without having that tall pipe swinging all over the place, and you can put it all back on in the time it takes the silicone to dry.

As for the tires, yes, more air=more float, but the 200 is a light bike, and if it floats too easily it will be unstable in deep water, If your talking about sinking it to the point where you need a snorkle I wouldent go more than 5psi unless you're a heavy guy. Once you have everything sealed and snorkled, you can run a lower tire pressure and allow the bike to run on bottom so you get more traction and stability.

I was thinking,I would make a snorkel exhaust system like an exhaust stack on a truck.I just want this thing to go anywhere.
