    Honda ATC200/ATC185 fork extensions

    I was surfing and came across this picture. What is the deal with the fork extensions? My first ATC200 had them. I still have the 3-wheeler but I'm not sure where these peices went, I'm sure then are around somewhere. My fork was extremely bent and it needed these to keep the tire from hitting the frame, I later put a straight fork on it so I took them off. Is that what they were made for? It also steered very hard because of the negative castor so it had pegs clamped on each fork so you could steer with your feet! They looked like similar quality so they may have even came together as a repair kit when you ran your 3-wheeler into a tree!

    I have a set of those on one of my atc200 forks. The forks are straight so I don't think it was a repair kit. I think they were ment to keep them from turning unexpectedly when you hit a big rock. Or maybe tire clearence?

    Don't remember the product source, but they extended the wheel base. They were also extentions (3") for the rear made. You would unbolt your axle assembly ( same bolts you would loosen to adjust your chain) and bolt the extension on. Then bolt axle assembly onto your extension. Chain would be lenghten and I would guess the brake cable too!

    They are more popular for the Honda 90/110/125m trikes, I haven't seen them mounted on a 185/200 style trike. My brother had a pair on his old 125m although I didn't really see much benefit from them. I do remember checking to see if they would fit my 200s but because of the shocks they didn't look like they would mount right up.

    While flipping thru a July, 82- 3wheel issue for a product name for the extensions I found this. In Kawasaki factory accessories, they had extensions for a KLT 200. States they were designed to give aprox. 2 1/2 " of additional front tire to fender clearance, eliminating mud build-up. Total ground clearance is also increased to aid in preventing engine hangups over rocky terrain.
