Pit bike to 3 wheeler?

Hi,
After watching those pitbikes on the internet-Prices seem to be dropping rapidly.And I figured I might buy one to fiddle round with.Im wondering if anyone has converted a pitbike to a trike before-As it would seem like a cool conversion.I was thinking maybe 2 pillow-block bearings mounted onto the swingarm,Then just get a go kart rear end setup(wheels,hubs,sprocket carriers,brake rotors e.t.c)
Im thinking it wold look really cool,Also would thier be a set of plastics the right size to use?(I was thinking of some rear of quad rear plastics)-So what do you think?

That would be cool. I need something like that to get around the pits @ the races hup here...but Im turning my 125m into a pit trike.

The plastic actually fitting will probably depend on your design of the conversion. I bet you could make that thing really cool and low...especially if you used the rear end of those modified or methanol powered flat track/ dirt track karts.

What kind of bike are you thinking about??

Well ive noticed that the pitbikes tend to sit quite high
(please note thats not mine)
So i was thinking about dropping it a few inches,Then go and find some plastics off a quad that are the right size,Then modify the frame to suit.
Yeah im thinking about the dirt track karts(quarter midgets) rear end assembly,Or using one of those pavement track karts.

I have a buggered ride on mower i can strip the wheel\s off that are similar size to that,and then put some meaty mud tires on em.
I think it would look pretty cool.

That pitbike is nowhere near stock height. You won't need to lower a stock one

Oh ok.Im looking at buying a pitbike like that.Its a 110cc 4 speed with manual clutch.
I could call it the honda 110x(seeing as the bike is a honda clone)

I had a pitbike here for a couple of weeks studying it to do that conversion. After having to change the fork rake, lengthen the frame, make a new subframe , make a swingarm it was easier to make a frame from scratch. That way it can be set up to fit ATC70 tank and fender/seat to it and it will look relatively normal and not like a converted bike. Try to find a clapped out ATC70 for the parts you need. I used the headstock and first 12" of frame to have the geometry right and built back from there. The swingarm is only about a foot long but works well with the pitbike rear shock. You would still be wise to purchase a pitbike engine assembly with the electrics, exhaust etc. I have heard there are some gearbox issues with some brands when put under the extra load of trikes and quads.

Yeah,I suppose that might be easier ,That way i could use the atc70 rear axle assy,and front wheel,Pretty much most of the stuff minus engine,and frame.
I think it would be quite cool

here is a CT70 conversion i am currently working on now,,,

thats my friend dale! ACTNUT modeling with the new project,, don't worry there is plenty of room for your leg ,,, lol!!!! and the stock 70 pipe is inside of the drag pipe and well insulated so that bigole pipe doesn't even get hot,,,,

Well i just went to the dump-I am sort of mates with the guy there,And he lets me sort and take whatever i want

And I had a look around but found nothing,Then i saw this,Went over and picked it up




And there was also this pipe with it-My guess is the previous owner never got around to fitting it




Do you guys think this has much 3 wheeler potential

One last thing-I got it,Took it home and found the wiring loom was cut up,So i cut it out and worked out the wires for the CDI-And it sparked

Then i put on a large lawnmower carb,Gave it about 10 kicks and she fired up,Gave her a tune and took it for a run-And it runs great!

It is 2 speed auto and is 49 cc
