Kenda viper - anyone ever use them?

    To go on a Yamaha 225. 22X11X8

It looks like a good all around general purpose tire. Just curious how you liked it and what terrian you rode on with it and how it held up. It's only a 2 ply and that has me curious about puncture resistance.

I don't recall seeing any one that has them picture wise that I have seen.

I don't want to "over tire" or "over tread" my machine and this seems to be a good pick for it.

Looks to be a semi - ballon type and I like that. Very good looking too, to me anyway.

Being that I can constantly reverse the tread, I would suspect great even wear on the tread also.

I had them on one of my past rides - my '89 warrior. They are really just a glorified balloon knobby. I will say this, they are cool looking if that counts and those huge lugs are good in alot of different terrains. I would definitely consider them for a ridgid framed or front suspended/hardtail trike where you need the tires to be your "shocks" - but - they are a little pricey for what you get. I wouldn't recomend them for any kind of performance application because they are too balloon spongy.

Actually that's just what I wanted to hear! I want them balloon type but not with the standard OEM knobby tread that usually goes along with it.

A 200S is exactly the type machine you are referring to which is my buddies but he may not be interested becaues of price BUT the price varies ridiculous on tires from wbestite to website.

I've seen them as high as a rip off $70 NOT including shiping and as low as 45 not including shipping.

Seems to be the case with all tires though so ya really got to shop careful fore them.

Remember what you paid for yours with shipping or you got at a dealer?

If so, where did you get them?

How did they wear for you? Considering they will be on much less potent machines we should get more wear then you did.

They were 53 bucks way back then...........WOW!

    Good reveiw, I WANT them!

What luck too! The tire I pick and you just happen to have that in one of your mags. Good going!

ALso.........I didn't realize the amount of sidewall tread they have until seen in the artical. I like that feature alot. Looks coooool and probably works great when your really weighting the tire on the extreme edge. The profile looks to be in between a ballon & flatter profile which is perfect for me. I'm sold.

    Yep
They are a good tyre, I found they work pretty good in sand too, well since I only ever rode in sand I guess that doesnt count for much. One thing I will say is they are a low profile tyre and probably not suited to non-suspension models!!

I'm talking just for the rear of mine. If you want a true steering tire and they have this in your size, I'd recommend it. It is the ONLY steering tire in my size 22X11X8. I don't have it yet but it got high recomendations from 3WW members.

I think too many put rear tires, that only belong on the rear, on the front. Yes, they (some brands) will work but can't possibly match the steering response of a tire made for the front.

Big Red..........HMMMMM.........Don't they have fairly large tires over the other 200's?

Looks like my secret tire is out! I've loved these tires for years. They are really great tires for the right bike. I would not suggest running these on a 2 stroke, where you want to slide the rear. But for a 4 stroke, nothing better. They wear about the same as every other tire out there.

Huffa I wish they made the Front Max in my size, 25x12x9 it is a great tire. I bought my brother one years ago to put on his 350X and it handled great.

I am running a Dirt Devil on the front of my Big Red now and its okay but really pushes and slides around when turning in the mud. I think the Viper would have better trail manners as well as turn better in thin slick mud. At the time I got the Dirt Devil it was the only choice I had. I tore a sidewall on the tire I was running while on a trip and the DD was the only thing I could find locally where I was at.

I want one of the one's posted above with the straight line thread. And as a bonus, it won't rub my forks !! i had to take a utility knife to my mud devil to shave 1/4 inch off the sides to not ruin my fork tubes !!!
