    I bought a crate motor last summer.... come to find out it was an 85 motor! Definitely a showroom take-out from 87. I was amazed it was a 85 though.

    That is an 85 motor. The clutch cable goes to the front instead of to the side as on the 86.

    I'm at the school, so I couldn't see the link. If/when I install my crate motor, I have the parts to switch the cable run over to a 86 setup. I did that to the "Go-Go" girl with that side cover you sent me Todd. Since then, I picked up a parts lot with a few side covers that I can gut the clutch mechs off... MR ATC gave me the external parts for the conversion.
