Header pipe glowing orange it's so hot on startup!

First off, thanks for all the great responses for all my questions. Lots of ideas and things to try thrown around.

Upon it's first firing up in 2 years after a full rebuild, the headpipe was gliowing red hot in like a minute. The idle is all messed up and revving to the moon. The exhaust is stock and like new condition. The pilot was turned out 2 full turns from being set. I'm not sure the jet sizes, whatever came with the kit.
I took off the CDI cover and stator cover and aligned everything up on TDC. Including the little cdi thing behind the 10mm bolt with the rubber piece. Apparently that's supposed to be lined up when the crank is on the F mark. Would this be the cause of my glowing hot headpipe? Maybe the timing is WAAAY advanced causing it to run hot?

make sure its not clogged up with something. I had a rats nest in one of my 85r pipes and it ran bad and got really hot.

Oldschoolin I will also disagree with you. I have seen it as well. However, Kilabeez has a multiple problems with his trike so in this reference I can see. But it is very hard to follow what exactly is going on with his trike. Kilabeez a suggestion, Post all issues in one thread. I wouldnt worry about the orange until you get the high idle fixed, the shaking fixed, and whatever else you have going on fixed.

Alright, I'll admit I haven't seen a lot of these new 450's in action but why doesn't the one I ride do it? Due to the stong voice of all of you I'll hold my opinion on these newer machines but it still applies to these older ones.
