Just finishing up my project blaster 490, it is a 1996 blaster 200 which I pulled the motor and have dropped in a 1989 YZ490 motor which is pretty easy.......but I would like to extend the swing arm a touch.......has anyone done this ?????? how much should Iextend..........I dont want a hill climber just a little longer wheel base!!!!! any input would be great.......Or is there any aftermarket swingarms for the blaster?????

There are plenty of aftermarket arms around for the ytm200.

As for the yz490 conversion..how does it go? I have ridden a few 490's, and (no offense here), it was the worse bike yamaha ever made. 4 speed, impossible to keep jetted right, horrid suspension, etc. I know theres some groups of 490 fanatics out there, I'm on the opposite side of the field. Putting them in small quad frames like blasters quite a few people have done, and had pretty good success with it. If you can get it to the point where the engine runs decent and can jet spot on and leave it there for more then a couple hours (It490 parts help), you should have a decent ride.

Im in the midst of a similar project, and I havent got the two together yet, but I think the TriZ swingarm can be made to work, which I think is longer, but will also get you the shock linkage setup, as well as the the rear hydraulic disk brake setup.

Lordy , it must be a beast! Definently will need that seinger extension.

Ive got a pro CNCer who can do it for $175-$200 (this offer goes for anyone). Email me if interested. Its an extension of your current one NOT a whole new one.

A&R Products in Upland CA made a 2" extension that bolted to your axle carrier back in the 90's. I don't know if they still do but their number is (909)985-9195.

Actually the 490 motor he has in his should be a five speed. From 1982 to 1984 the YZ 490 was yellow and black and had a 4 speed. Then from 1985 to 1990 the 490 was white and red and had a 5 speed. None the less those bikes were fast 4 speed or not. They could really never be fixed to run 100%, but they were fairly decent bikes.
