    New to me 200x.

Didn’t get the survivor , no paperwork. Would have been a nice bike but when there out of the system in California it’s a lot of money and hassle. Got this rougher version. Had title and registration. Picked it up cheap. Needs a seat cover. Plastics are ok oem. Tank is ok no rust on inside. Minimal outside.
Didn’t run. Swapped out the fuel carb and changed the oil. Seems to run ok. Has a cobra exhaust repacked with fmf packing. New plug and air filter. Maybe 60$ and it runs ok. Blows a little oil smoke. Hasn’t ran in like 5 years so hopefully just needs to reseat. Gonna adjust the valves next weekend. Worse case I’ll do a piston and top end over the summer.
Wheels and tires and seat cover incoming.
Any recommendations or ideas for the oil smoke after it’s been sitting ? Cleans up when it’s warmed up. Valves stem seals ?

For something that's sat a while, but runs, you can try to fill the cylinder with a product and let it sit a few days. Mystery oil, Seafoam, whatever. You'll need to change the oil afterward though.

If the rings and ringlands are dirty, it may clean those enough to so the rings fully seat and it may cut down on the smoking. The valve guide seals get hard and maybe riding it for an extended time will soften those up, a little, but it won't fix anything. Maybe all just enough to cut down on the smoking.

Otherwise, just ride it and see what happens. A little smoke at startup isn't a big issue to many people, as long as it's not being a big oil user and fouling plugs.

If I pull and engine down, it's likely to start a runaway project that gets a bit over what I intended at the start. Basically, every little thing I notice wrong is going to get some attention, even rusty bolts. I can't hardly just pull one down for a top-end job and put it back together without making it evident I put some time into it.

Gonna ride it and see what happens. Nothing far or fast. My kids first atc so taking it easy. I have a whole extra engine. I’ll rebuild that and drop it in summer time.

IDK if the 1st gen motor was quiet even right off the showroom floor. The timing chain and guides always seem to make a scratching, scraping, ticking sound, even with the valves in spec.

Still a fun trike, inexpensive, easy to get parts for, easy to work on, easy to upgrade, there's a reason Honda made so many of them.

Can't run them low on oil, or crappy oil, or it smokes the cam journals.
