Topend rebuild and now decompression lever not working.

Have an 81 ATC200 that I rebuild the top end on. Engine runs great but the decompression lever just barely hits the rocker and isn't opening the valve at all for decompression. Before the rebuild it was working fine.

I replaced the piston/rings and put a new cam in.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I recently had the same issue.
Adjust your valves again and make sure the engine is on TDC.
I thought I had the engine on TDC for the first adjustment but I did not and the decomp lever would not function.
Mine is now working as it should.
Put your butt on the inside fender or end up on the ground!

Did you put a bigger cam in it ? It might have a small radius on the bottom of the cam and when you adjusts the valves for that cam it put the arm for the decompression out of adjustment and might need adjusted ? Just a idea
