    Terry Treasure Hunt

For anyone who had the kits or knowledge, are these Terry parts or just the decals?

There's not a lot of info about the Terry fork kits, so if these parts are them and now that I can get some measurements, it may help others identify their parts.

Looks like the Terry kit to me .
I installed a bunch of them back in the day .
The factory setup used 3 x springs on each leg .
I believe it gave you another 1” or so of travel with the kit which made the tire bottom out on the fender lol .

    Thanks.

I've replaced OEM with aftermarket springs in the past, but it's been a while. Now that you mentioned it, I didn't even think to look at a parts diagram and note the difference in spring count and spacer.

I hear you on the fender contact issue, I've had rigs like that. That brrzzt, brrzzt, every time after a bump drives me crazy, besides that it eventually rubs a hole in the fender.

I've still got one of these to dissemble, it's stuck, but soaking in gas and oil right now. I hope at least the damper rod and leg are salvageable. Since both tubes are either bent or pitted, those will need replaced. The main springs are shot, rusted and disintegrating. The seal clip ring and washer came out of the one with some oil, heat, and patience, but I'll have to cut the seal out. I've already removed all the rubber from it I could, so I can see the metal core. The slide wasn't doing the job, didn't budge the old seal.

It's a lot of work but since these early 250R forks will fit some other things I have, they're an improvement over what those came with and worth the effort. I'm going to clean up what's usable and stash it away. If that other damper rod is still usable, I'll have to get some new Terry Kit decals for when I put the forks back in use.
