    Lightbulb Yamaha Yt175 and yt125

Hello, I heard that engine parts from a yamaha dt125 will fit a yamaha yt125 parts like piston, cylinder, crankcase, seals, etc but not the clutches or transmission parts. Is this true? Also will Yamaha dt175 parts fit a yt175?
    Thanks

The dt175 bottom end is a manual clutch setup , it was a great upgrade back in the day for racing TT and flat track .

The yt125 engine needs new crank seals but other than that it is pretty good. It only has 90 compression hot but it sounds good and not rattling or anything. The 175 is gonna need a new top and bottom end, bad rod bearing. Maybe the cylinder is savable. Can I use a dt175 bearings, crank and piston? The year for the 175 is 1982.

Jug will need to be bored oversized or replaced, deep gauges. Big end con rod bearing is completely gone, I do have a press and a lathe I could potentially rebuild the crankshaft. Obviously piston and rings need to be replaced although I seen on a thread that I can use yamaha blaster pistons if those are easier to source.

As for the 125 would the dt125 or 175 crank seals work? I might also do a top end on it because it only has 90psi of compression and the piston looked a little rough through the exhaust port.

I know this is an older post but I think the dt seals may fit. if not you can find new old stock seals on ebay. I recently replaced the crank bearings in my 1980 yt125 and i found the seals by searching for a 1980 tri moto yt125 parts diagram. the part number will be listed then searching that part number. anyway, Im sure youve made the repairs and moved on by now. lol
