I have a 1985 200x. It is great shape, starts and runs great and looks really good. As I know the kickers eventually become a problem, I am thinking of possible fixes. The kickstart gears and springs are an obvious option. Swapping in an engine with electric start is an option, especially if your engine needs significant work anyway.
I grew up on a 200s, so I am very comfortable with the pull start. The pull provides more rotation, so better starting. And they are not prone to failure like the kicker gears and springs. You also do not have to split the cases if the pull start needs to be fixed. The bottom ends are the same between the s and x. Can a pull starter be installed on a 200x?
