Obtaining title for ATV

I read somewhere that some states don't require titles for ATVs or you can register an ATV in that state and receive a title for it. Anyone done this and if so, how? I live in Comifornia and they require titles just to get stickers to ride. Most our old 3 wheelers don't have titles. I've done lien sales before but pita. I even again read there are services where they take care of the paperwork for that state for you for a cost.

You should check the state DMV website for vintage vehicle statutes. I don't know how your local DMV office is but if the employees there are just button pushers you'll get better results doing your own research for the proper forms.

Here in Arkansas, if it's older than 1992, there's some relief.

STATE OF ARKANSAS AFFIDAVIT FOR TITLE AND REGISTRATION
OF A THREE (3) OR FOUR (4) WHEELED ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE
MANUFACTURED BEFORE DECEMBER 31, 1992

In accordance with Arkansas Code 27-20-202(b)(2)(B)(i), if a three-wheeled or four-wheeled all-terrain
vehicle was manufactured on or before December 31, 1992, then proof of ownership shall not be
required to obtain registration, and a statement of ownership shall be accepted as proof of
ownership. The affidavit with the following information must be provided.



I got an OHV sticker in Wyoming for a trike, at a gas station. I don't have a title for that trike.

As for the people offering out of state titles and road legal registration for things like dirt bikes, many if not most or all of those loopholes are now closed. If it came with an off-road title or VIN, it's no longer possible.

Each state is different. I can title any atv or 3wheeler here in PA. Bill or sale on state DCNR letter head, get it motorized, fill out state issued DCNR title application. Provide photos and pencil traces of vin #, send in and few bucks later I get a title. Cycles are a different story here for title. I title everything now days. When or if I sell it brings a different clientele to my house. The cool thing to do in the last 15 years is steel off road toys and ride around the city on 1 wheel because of the monkey see monkey do websites....

It really depends on the state. A friend of mine once told me how he wasn’t allowed to participate in a quad bike race because the organizers required proof of ownership, and his state didn’t have such requirements. He came from another region, ready to compete, but they just didn’t let him race. This was quite a while ago, but he still talks about those races with great excitement. According to him, the races were a real challenge. The tracks went through forests, swamps, and hills, and everything was covered in mud. Riders would literally throw their quads into the mud, and each run felt like a mini battle with nature. The race was sponsored not only by a local chain of motor equipment stores but also by a website that reviews online casinos, like this one. They supported the event by handing out promotional materials and even offering small bonuses on their platforms as part of the prize pool. Back then, it was still allowed. As far as I know, there are now federal laws restricting such sponsorship and advertising opportunities, which I think is a loss for the sport.

But what he misses the most is the spirit of those races. Nobody cared about the mud or damaging their vehicles, the main goal was to show what your quad and skills could do. Nowadays, according to him, everything has changed. The younger generation is more cautious, follows all the rules, and avoids risks. The races are now more regulated, with lots of restrictions.

in arizona, you just take the trike to DMV, they do a vin check, if it's not in the system because most 3 wheelers were never titled, they go to the NADA website to get a value and they have you go to a insurance company to buy a bond (50 bucks) bring the bond paperwork back and they issue you a title, and you.can get a plate, and OHV sticker while your there. Usually runs about 100 bucks for everything
