    Smile 85 250sx Engine Removal - Rusted Engine Mount Bolt

    Hey folks,

    I'm removing the engine on my 85 250sx to do a timing chain, and I'm stuck on one bolt. Specifically, the "front lower hanger bolt", as shown in the picture below. I think it's just crazy rusted in there. At least I hope so. All the other bolts weren't threaded the whole way through, so I figured this one wasn't either.

    For clarity sake, I've gotten the nut off the end of it (the driver side), but the bolt itself will not budge. I've hit it with PB blaster for days, heated up the bolt/area, and wailed on it with my biggest . I also hit the bolt with my impact, and it never budged, and eventually rounded off the head of the bolt.

    Any advice? Do I need to buy a damn sledge? Thanks in advance

    A little heat and a decent size center punch and it should come out .
    You don’t need to remove the motor to replace the timing chain on that model .
    The valve cover will come off with a little finagling .

    Thanks for the replies.

    I kinda wanted to take the engine completely out to take a good look at it, but yeah, maybe I'll just admit defeat and do the timing chain while it's still in the frame.

    I did heat it up, probably a few minutes of a big torch just on the underside "sleeve" of the bolt. I also smacked the same "sleeve" with my . I guess more heat couldn't hurt?

    I'll give it another go before the weekend and post any updates if I have them
