1985 Honda Atc 250sx engine questions

I recently acquired a Cushman truckster that someone has converted from electric to gas. They took the engine and rear-end from a 1985 Honda 250sx and fitted it in the Cushman. I know the sacrilege! Honest I bought it this way. Anyway to make it work they set the engine in rotated about 15 degrees back. Basically the piston is straight up. The problem is the oil flows to the back and if you fill it to the full level on the dipstick it blows out of crankcase vent tube. I pulled the short hose off the vent and put a longer one on, ran it upward and put a easy 90 degree turn in it to keep the oil from blowing out. I do get a little milky oil out of the tube, but not a massive amount of oil like before. My question is can I get away running it like this or will I have engine or oil delivery issues?

    Thanks for any advice.

My guess is that when you fill the oil to the full line, it's actually over full since the engine is tipped back. That's why you're getting oil coming out of the vent tube. Try lifting the back end up so that the engine is level. Then fill to the full line, let the back end back down, and mark where your new full line is at.
