1983 ytm225dx clutch adjustment issue

Hello everyone, my name is Eddie I recently bought a 1983 Yamaha ytm225dx and the clutch adjustment is out of adjustment. I tried to adjust it but I can't seem to tighten the lock bolt or screw. I ordered a new one but the local dealerships on Long Island won't touch it due to its age. I was hoping I could get some advice on what to do and possibly some pointers on doing it myself. I'm not sure how serious this problem is. I am still able to shift in and out of neutral but there is no motion when in gear. Any advice would help.
