250 es neutral switch???

Facts:

85 250ES

Neutral light does not come on when key is on

Headlight does not work with key on

Will not start with button

Starts right up with crossing the solenoid

Switch will kill it, so I figure it is good (?)

Neutral light and headlight both work when running

So, I removed and cleaned and replaced the switch wires on the right side of the engine

Put it back on and checked connection and nothing changed-nothing changed

Replaced the wired coming from the right side of engine with another one I had and nothing changed

Disassembled and cleaned the switches and start button. Nothing changed

Tips? tricks? Advice? Prayers?

Check the main fuse and it’s wires , left side next to the CDI and starter relay .
Next thing to check is the ignition switch , it can be disassembled and cleaned, just take note of how it’s clocked before pulling it apart .

Ok the neutral switch being bad, unplugged, ect. will not cause the headlight not to work with the key on.

Thanks guys, main fuse (hard to get to) was blown. I ordered 4 from Parszilla for 86 cents each, great deal! $9.95 to have them shipped... Not a good deal!

I'll let you know how it comes out. Thanks again for the help.

My other parts bikes had the originals replaces with inline bus fuses. I have read that is very common but I figured I would keep it original, this time anyway.
