anyone else have a hard time getting rid of parts?

used to be so easy to find most parts for our trikes. as they get older, seems there's fewer projects available locally. So when I score a project or a pile of junk with usable parts I can't seem to just let them go.
anyone else find themselves in this delicate? 2 years ago, I decided to settle with 2 185s trikes and a atc70. But another shows up, get it running, then more, get them running. it's 7 complete trikes now and 3 frames with motors. A few hours of tinkering and it would be 3 rolling frames with motors. no tanks, seats or plastics for those and the tires are trashed.

    I haven’t changed much in a while
Just sold the 86r sadly and he didn’t want any of the parts
Sorta crazy. Time to sell those but I have to get pics etc

Still need some 84es parts but nothing seems to come up around me often

Jim, "getting rid of parts"? Nope- My worst problem is just finding another area to store them in. I really don't see any ATC parts coming down in value anytime soon, cost going up for stuff yes. The younger generation's i see are still interested in these 3-wheeled death machines So its an investment.

Plastikosmd, if u see this, Hows that 86 200x running? You like it?

I'm outside trying to rearrange the 3 project assemblies. basically pulling the junk wheels and tires off and leaning the carcass against the fence. What's a welded on 185s suspension frame worth? jim

    Love it shep

It hurts to sell the 86r. A dream machine and I would put it in my living room if I could. Sadly too much machine for me at this point and way too much for my rough trails.

The x is perfect for around here and I still also love my 84es

I would like to try 350x at some point but not sure if that will be any better for me around here?
(My guess is somewhere between the x and the r and I need to be at the x level performance or below)

I rarely see 3rd gear on the x unless in field or on frozen lake. Mostly 1st and sometimes 2nd. It is just rough and wet here.

So, quite happy, heartbroken on the R but sitting for 364 out of 365 days sucks

If I have multiple spare parts, I'll sell one if a friend needs it. Basically, the only parts I sell are the ones that won't fit a bike I have or something I for sure will never use. It's hard to find cheap deals these days so I hate to sell something that I'll have to pay a premium to replace if I need one, but, If ya need it, ya pay for it lol.

just took the front forks off a 200s and 185s, leaned the frames against the fence next to each other and stored the forks and wheels. got it down enough I can park the 350x and suspended 185s in front of the chevelle, 3 frames on the side of the yard, the new 185s and 200s next to the chevelle and have room to park the truck behind it and close the gate.
Wifes rule is this side of the yard is my play area, the other side of the fence, she doesn't want to see cars parts or trikes. But I could park so much more on her side of the yard!. jim

Been sitting on parts nearly a year motor stuff....it seems no one wants to buy parts unless its a big parts lot cheap locally. People dont want projects now, they want a machine thats slapped together that runs...younger croud has to be able to ride ASAP not build.

I think i have 3 300ex motors all in parts ready to go back together...no one wants anything. Ill be forced to build a motor and build another project lol

    Now? You bet.

I'm not selling anything at less than ball busting prices. Too many fakers out there just cashing in on the scene.

Look at all the junk parts being peddled on Ebay for premium prices. Swiss cheese seat pans and mufflers. Would'nt hardly anyone sell that mess back in the day, they would've given it to someone in need. Give it to someone now, and they're just going to put it on a flip.

I blame it on all the youtube and social channels. BRO BARN FIND MINT VINTAGE. The amount if guys who have come to my house to buy parts is slim now. Most are 20 years younger them me, have no idea about anything and normally say I just need this part to fix up an ATV or ATC I am going to sell. I think last year maybe a handful of white guys came for parts. I'm no racist at all but white guys in the atv atc sport now day is rare to see. It's a different off road world out there now. There a lot of new groups into the sport, and certain guys seem to only be related to certain model toys.

Last weekend a buddy of mine came over with his kid and a friend. The boys were 16ish were just willing to drop crazy amount of cash on stuff. I semi gave them a deal but I know what they are doing to do with it. Both just flip on facebook or trade. The amount of stuff traded between the younger crowd is nuts. It also can be a lot harder to buy from the younger crowd too.

My wife calls me the"spare king" along with another term "pack rat". Still have the Chevron tires from the first 1980 ATC110 along with the Skat Trak paddles (2 piece wheels). Sold a couple bikes early on due to a divorce but have kept everything else since. Good parts are hard to find and I just can't sell those I have.

it's so nice to drag home a project, missing a pull start, carb or whatever, go into the parts bin and start bolting parts on the newest project and in matter of a couple hours have a trike that actually looks like a trike for little or no cost. jim

That's the main thing that needs to be there to make it worth dragging home.
