Front Tire Suggestions

Hey guys do y’all have any recommendations for a 250r front tire with the stock 11” wheel? I really wanted a Kenda Front Max but it’s out of stock quite literally everywhere on the internet in the 250r size. I found one on eBay but he ended up refunding me because he actually didn’t have it in stock. I’m wanting something that performs close to a front max if it’s possible. I see guys are running mudlites. Are they comparable to the max in performance or is it just something that’s available so people are running them?

I have used both of those tires posted above. I like the ocelot and will be getting another when I need a new front tire. One of my trikes has a tire with the same tread pattern as the ebay link above (not sure if its the same manufacturer). It is a really tall tire compared to other 23.5 tires.

I like that cheetah racing front 23x8-11 looks like a stock dunlop front

I like the slotted style tires for sport bikes and a non directional tire for utility bikes.

I think it comes down to terrain and rider preference.

It's crazy that you can't find a Front Max. I literally ordered one a month ago and had no issues getting it. Now it may be because I ordered it in 23x8-11 instead of the original 23.5x8-11. I've seen in the past where it was very hard to find one in a 23.5", but it was easy to find the 23". I doubt that the .5" makes any real world difference anyway.

I don’t know if it’s covid related or what but both of those sizes are backordered everywhere. But every other size is in stock. Really hope they’re not planning on dropping those sizes from the line up

Kenda has been making the k284 front max since 1986. First it was only available in a 22x11-8, then the 11 inch size came a few years later. I specialize in specialty tires for quads, motorcycles, trailers, lawn mowers, small industrial tires.

The longest running tires still in production are the Cheng shin c829 dimple knobby came out in 1984, c828 wooly copy in 1985, Carlisle Stryker in 1985, Kenda front max in 1986, Kenda scorpion in 1987. Duro made their knobby, mud & sand, desert in around 1988 they are still around however they don't hold a chance against the original wooly booger and buckshot mudder.

Just phased out were the Cheng shin c827 staggered large knobby, c832 knobby, some Stryker sizes mainly 25x12-9.

That's too bad about the C827s being phased out. I have a pair on the back of my SX and really like them.

Those Cheng shin knobby tires c827, c829, c832, c867, c873, c874 are the thinnest tires you can buy. Very soft ride and work great on low powered machines, but absolutely zero puncture resistance. With the small Honda trikes you have split rims you must run tire inner tubers and if you puncture it you have to pull out the inner tube and patch it or replace it.
