Air Filter for Yamaha YTM 125????

    Hello,

I had a hard time finding an air filter will stay in the box without a Cage? cuz I don't have a cage in the airbox

    1. should I remove the whole air box off and buy an aftermarket air filter with the clamp-on carb?

    2. find air filter can hold in an air box without a cage?

A clamp on style of filter usually isn't the best option. The filters are exposed to mud, snow, water, dust, and other types of things that will plug the filter in a hurry. A clamp on filter will also cause your engine to run lean since the air flow will no longer be restricted by all of the built in crud protection that the factory intake system provides. You'll have to rejet if you run a clamp on air filter. I know next to nothing about the Yamaha 125s and 175s, so I don't have any other additional advice.

A clamp on pod filter would work, but it would also be living right between your rear wheels, exposed to everything you ride through. If you're never in mud/water that may be okay.

You're not going to get the stock style filter to stay put without a cage, the cages are unfortunately pretty tough to find used. A guy could make a filter cage out of piano wire, probably what I would do if I was in your shoes.
