84 200x engine noise and smoking

I have an 84 200x, i did a cam chain three years ago and looks like its time for a new one. Started it up yesterday and it had a really loud knock in the top end worse than the usual tick you hear. And it did not have the noise when i rode it the day prior. The chain is loose and the cam has a lot of play where it rides in thd head. Is there anything that can be done other than a new head and chain to fix the cam play? Also the wheeler leaves a cloud of smoke behind it, ive tried rings, valves and valve seals head gasket. Could the valve guides make it smoke?

Could be a number of things. Sounds like it’s time to take the motor completely down. I would rebuild the crank, new piston with bore and hone to match and then get a new cam, timing chain, etc.
