    1984 KLT200 Starter not turning engine ?

    1984 KLT200.

    Electric Starter spins and spins the chain and gear behind the flywheel. I pulled the side cover and watched it. It spins clockwise. For some reason its not turning the motor over though, piston is staying still.

    When i shift into gear and spin the rear wheels (up on a stand) it turns the motor over and the flywheel is spinning counter clockwise.

    Any ideas?

    is it possible someone put the one-way clutch on the back of the rotor on backwards?

    Just a thought. Is it the right starter? Where you picked up this gem matters also. Was it north or south of the border? That can change the polarity LOL. Shouldn't you be working on the CR? I'm home now buddy!
