I must be getting wiser with age...
I put the body parts on the other day and realized the frame needed to be black. Rather than just start stripping the frame for a redo I called the wife into the shop and said "What do you think?" She said; "about what?" I said; the black over yellow?" She said; "you should have used black". I said; "really? Would you prefer that I change it?" Feeling all empowered she said "yes". Now all its on her that another two months has been added to the project and not me!
So down she comes for a sandblasting and a coat of wet black PC.

I had a drag bike with a yellow frame and a black body that I really liked, but the engine was gold plated vs chromed like this one. I think I could have pulled it off had the decals been done in yellow and not chrome, but that ship has sailed, so black frame it is. There are a couple of tweaks I want to do as well, so win win.
Had a buddy come over last week and help be pull the engine out. I swear it weighs 200#. In my foolish youth I would R&R these things myself while straddling the bike, now my balls hurt just lifting half of it.
Got all the details addressed and got her ready for sandblasting. Hoping for an early June fire up.

Getting close. Did a shake down on the electronics and everything work but the tail light. Well, actually everything but my tail light and my multimeter. Got a different multimeter chased down the disconnected wire and all is well! Even the engine spends over. Now all I need to do is convince three or four strong guys to come over and help me hoisted out of the shop. The only thing missing now is the custom seat that Corbin says it was delivered a few days ago. I sure hope they did what I asked, because they did not send me photos before shipping as we had agreed.
Picked up the Corbin seat last week and it installed before I went for a 1.3km ride on the weekend (not shown in the photo). Handles like an oil tanker, it's louder than hell at full volume and the rear brake overheated and locked up as I pulled up to the garage. Oil pressure gauge fitting started leaking and I think the base gasket is seeping near one of the return holes. That's all the bad stuff.
The good stuff is that I lined it up straight, slipped it into second gear and rolled it up to half throttle from idle. It left a black strip about 100' long before I had to shut it down and prepare for the speed bump that was looming ahead.
Conclusion: It's absolutely useless for anything but burning rubber in a straight line and offending anyone who's not legally deaf... and I love it! As an added bonus everything I own with the exception of my lawnmower runs, it's an odd feeling after looking at this thing sitting dormant for 8 years.

Finaly got around to asking the local Suzuki dealer if I could do a burnout in parking lot. They were all for it even when I mention it might be a little loud. Made sure to take lots of photos, something to show the grandkids when they are convinced that I was born old sitting in a chair bitching about modern music and politics and wondering why I'm deaf.
Unfortunately the starter clutch decided to let go at some point, so it had to be pushed home afterwards. Got it fixed last night, but further internet searches tell me it may need to be welded to the flywheel permanently. Seems the large displacement and high compression is enough to shear the 3 8mm hardened socket cap bolts. I really don't want to weld it on permanently, so I'll try it one more time and hope the original bolts were just loose and stressed from previous use.
