Got it out and rolled around my buddy's track today, then cleaned her up. I've never owned a 200x before, but it seems like it's lacking in power. More than likely the carb needs a good cleaning and rebuilding.

    Anyway, onto the pics.

What is the rubber piece for that's attached at the bottom of the rear shock?

Nice find. Looks like most of it is there. Mine was about in this shape when i bought it. I had the motor totally rebuilt as it was smoking and had a knock when i got it. something to do with the camshaft i think. I have spent a lot of time and money finding all original parts and pieces for this thing. It takes patience as it is almost like a treasure hunt. We like pictures. keep them coming. I am not an expert on these but let me know if you have any questions.

    Here is mine so far..

I isn't mint or perfect but just trying to get it to a almost new condition.

Well, I do have one question. How do you change the chain on these. I can get the new one on there, but I don't know exactly what all needs to be done before I get back on it.

Hard for me to explain but get a hold of the service manual for the 86-87 200x. You will need it if your going to do a lot of work on it. It is in pdf form and you can search for the link somewhere on this site. That is where i got it. I'm sure to take it on and off just undo the retaining clip for it. To adjust tension you have to loosen the carrier bolts in the back and use the tool to swivel the carrier to tighten and loosen. Someone else might chime in for a more detailed explanation.

Thanks, yea I've got to download it. Is the tool a spanner wrench?

    No, not the 86/87.

Look at an 85 350X, that uses a spanner wrench. 86 350X uses a length of metal just like the 86/87 200X.

If it doesn't turn, take the bolts out of the swingarm. Then thread them from below and put a penny between the gap. As you tighten the bolts, the swingarm will open up a bit; Then you can spray it, oil it, work it back and forth or whatever you'd like.

Thanks! Got the chain put on earlier. Probably still gonna have to do what you said. Still needs to be adjusted more and I couldn't get it back to where the new chain has the right amount of slack.
