Harbor Freight Mini ATV Tire Changer (Works for ATC?)

Anyone have recent experience with the Harbor Freight Mini ATV Tire Changer on an ATC rim? I saw the older post with mixed reviews but nobody seem to say whether it worked with ATC rims.

All the shops around here want $30+ to change out a tire and now I have 6 to contend with at any given time. It'd be nice to know if this worked before I grind my knuckles.

I don't know about the mini tire change but I have the regular HF tire changer. Item#69686. It works great on ATV rims.

I used it to:
Break beads on my TRX and ATC 70 rims (2 piece, 7") - this alone was worth the $40.
Break breads and remove junk tires from 1 piece 11" ATC350X aluminum front rim
Break breads and remove junk tires from 1 piece 10" Tecate steel (84) rims
Break beads and R&R tires from the 15: aluminum LS mesh rims on my Civic so I could bead blast them.

I sunk some anchors into my garage floor and mount the changer to the floor when I use it.
I boxed in the bead breaking "shoe" because it looked flimsy.

Sounds like a winner. And you use it to dismount and mount the tire on the rim as well?

I used it to mount/dismount tires on the 1 piece rims but not the 2 piece.

2 piece don't have the drop center to allow removing over the bead so I just break the beads and unbolt them and slide them out.

really 30 dollars the shop around here only charges 5 to take off and 5 to put back on.

I got quoted higher than $30, that was the low-end. They want to make it worth their while I guess.

Maybe if I show up in person at a few shops they'll help me out. If not I'll try the Harbor Freight changer. It'll pay for itself right away.

They charge $15 a wheel to change atv tires here in so. cal. I bought the harbor freight tire changer (the regular one) for $30 bucks. It paid for itself on the first set of tires. You have to bolt it down to the floor to get it to work right. There is some room for improvement on it though, just like everything else from Harbor freight.

The bead breaker is kinda cool but I wish it were $50 or even $75 and came with tire spoons...

Oscar mayer just sent me a mint 350X front wheel, it had a rotted tire on it so he told me he takes them to discount tire and they charge 6 bucks, I think for that kind of money I wouldn't mess with removing another tite myself and save the shop room

I bought the 39.99 Harbor Freight manual tire changer and a pr of spoons after the "professional tire Shop" dinged a flawless 350X rim dismounting the original tire.

I've been changing my own ever since, and couldn't be more happier.

Oh BTW, I use it on the two piece rims also.

I built this one for free using scrap metal I had laying around. Anyone with basic welding skills can build one.

That is a cool idea and I especially like that you can plug it in the receiver hitch. Brilliant.

I went to the local used tire place and they mounted my new Scorpion for $5. Call it $10 with the dismount of the original. It took them all of 3 minutes total with the machine and no swearing or busted knuckles were needed.
