Yamaha DT 125 I saved from the scrap metal trailer

    Hello guys,

Just wanted to share a couple of pictures of a DT 125 I saved. I actually put this bike together last winter. I had this exact model as a kid, so I felt sorry for it when a co-worker tossed it in the junk. I wish I would have took some before pictures...it was vomit yellow, sun faded, and the carb and intake where missing and left open to the elements...the engine was froze tight and the crank was a solid block of rust. This was a street legal enduro, but it didn't have a title so I converted it to a dirt bike. Here is what went into it..

    Chassis,

    --removed unused brackets
    --rebuilt forks
    --new brake pads/bearings
--new tires donated by my boss
--YT 175 headlight and shroud (shroud not pictured on bike)
--new swing arm bearings, grease zerk added
    --renthal bars w/ATC 200X headlight/kill switch
    --seat cover
--2005 CR250 plastics cut to fit
    --Honda XR tail light

    engine
--YT 125 crank with new bearings
--YT 175 CDI ignition and light coil (ditched the points ignition)
    --YT 175 wiring harness
--new top end, and some transmission bearings replaced
--removed restriction in exhaust port/matched all ports to cylinder casting/boyesen reeds
--Cut open exhaust and removed the oem sound deadening insulation and mesh

Coming this spring will be a DT 175 top end, DT 400 rear shock, IT 250 forks, enduro lighting kit, and an attempt at getting a title.

Right now it will move along comfortably at 55mph with my 200lbs on it and top out around 65-67mph. Of course, its nothing like a modern 2 stroke power wise, but it does take a guy back....

    here she is........

My buddy has a DT175. They are cool vintage bikes. I wanna find one to make a nice little town hopper.

that's a good one vs the horrible twin shockers. I'd fix it and rip on it. but replace the ugly fenders with something maybe from a white XT or TT250 with a vented front fender and a oval number plate...!

I was actually being sarcastic with that last post.... It's a good solid bike that runs well with less than $500 total investment. It looks old school, and it is....It's exactly how I want it to look. Thanks for the offer on the fender.
