    Blown headlight bulb.

Hello, when I bought my honda 185s it had no headlight I talked to my mechanic that let me have a headlight off a 2001 Suzuki warrior for cheap. So he got it wired up and I drove it to load it in my truck and it blew the low beam. I got home and found out he had some wires crossed I fixed them the high beam worked I took it for a spin and now the high beams blown. I did a little research and it points to the rectifier being out but I can't find the part or how to fix it. What should my next move be? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

That bulb most likely isnt designed for a 185s electrial system... could be a lower or higher wattage bulb and its causing it to do this. I put a cheaper higher wattage bulb in my 250r and it ended up melting into the headlight connection. I always seem to learn the hard way with things and now ive gotta redo my headlight harness and just spent 35$ on the correct bulb from Honda.

I thought the same thing but my manual says the stock light is a 12V 25/25W and the suzuki headlight bulb is the same. That means they're the same right? The socket might be different but the bulb is rated the exact same.

Wow I feel dumb now I checked the bulb and it says 12v 35w. The spec sheet I read on the suzuki from the internet said 12 25/25w I'll call the dealership in town and see if they have it stock. Could this be why it blew?

Is your tail light hooked up?

185s has no regulator or rectifier. The bulbs are the regulator. Generally, if one is blown or not on the bike, the other will blow when you rev the engine.

I've even had a 110 blow headlights when I put a low watt LED tail light on it.

Although it is possible the lighting coil is bad and over charging but I doubt it.

Also, 25W and 35W bulbs are too small. You need a 45W headlight and 5W tail light. Or you could try a 55W headlight and no tail light but it might be dim.

Alternatively, you could run a 25W or 35W bulb if you add a simple 2-wire dirt bike regulator to the system.

I put a bulb in the taillight and it blew. The manual you linked me to is the one I have been useing it calls for a 12V 25/25W head light are you sure its wrong? I really want to avoid damaging the wireing.

Weird - maybe we're looking at different ones?
I'm looking at the electrical specs on Adobe page 7 or manual page 1-3 of this one:

I could be way off base though.

On 15-1 of the same manual it says 12v 25/25w for the headlight thats strange.
