    Picked up a kdx 250

I just got this last week, figured i'd share. The kicker slips and it seems low on compresion but it fires right up. It seems low on power, im not sure if this is due to the nature of the kdx or just that it needs a rebuild or a little of both. I bought it after seeing BKM's kdx 250 project, i thought it was an awesome idea to get away from some hard to find parts but still keep the lighting abilities. Idk if ill ever get around to building another tecate but these are hard to find and the price was reasonable.

that's a kdx200...kdx250's were styled nicer and not after the old KX500

they had a perimeter frame like all the KX250's after 1990

You got sold sold something someone didn't know what they had, and after something 20 years old ppl seem to know what the have.

Sure looks like a perimeter frame on 86T3's bike to me... correct me if I am wrong. If it were a stressed member frame it would have no frame tubes that cradle the underside of the engine, which 86T3's bike has.

I'm not really up on my Kawasaki interchangeability. I'm assuming the kdx250 engine is close enough to the T3 engine to allow parts swapping? Are the KX250 engines also similar?

Oldskool is correct, it is infact a kdx200. I cant really be mad at the seller, i should have looked it over better. I dont think they knew it was a 200

it happens, however KDX200's are easier to find parts all day long so no harm lost. Plus 90% of people would think you have a KX500 lol

Ytz drew, here is the thread i was talking about where bkm put a kdx 250 motor into a tecate. I dont know if any internal parts swap but the whole motor does fit in with a little help. I dont know if the kx swaps, i may do some research on it.

I have a kdx 200 engine with what looks to be a brand new piston if you're interested. I had plans for it but they have since changed.
