Simple bolt on parts would be exhaust, air filter, sprockets, bigger carb.

It depends on the condition of the engine and your actual skill level. If it is old and tired like most, your best power gain would be through a rebuild. Exhaust with jetting to match will make noticeable gains.

which will cost you roughly the same as two complete 200x' if you cant do the work yourself. We don't know the o.p.'s skill level.

It'd be a great way to learn! I'm with RPM, if your gonna hot rod it HOT ROD IT! Dome piston, hotter cam, port, bigger carb.

I just built a 200x motor. No stroker crank but wiseco 12:1 piston, largest cam webcams inc offered along with the heavy duty valve springs, titanium retainers and steel base washers. Also have a ported head.

I'm no expert but adding a 30mm carb to a stock motor will gain you little to nothing in and of itself. Now if you remove the air box lid, change the air filter and add a performance exhaust, you will get more out of a bigger carb, but at 30mm you will probably still have more carb than really needed. Also do you know how to jet it? Just clamping on a bigger carb is not the end of the process. To get the most out of your bike, a more thorough and expensive process is required as explained above - big bore, high compression piston, stroker, cam along with exhaust, air box/filter changes and carb work. I wouldn't call sprockets performance parts but they can get the bike set up the way you need it for your use.

My suggestion to you would be to remove your air box lid, find a good aftermarket exhaust, jet it properly using the stock carb and add some hubs from a newer quad that offer a little wider stance to add stability. Stock TRX450r, 400ex, 300ex, 2nd gen 200x etc should all fit your 1st gen 200x axle and offer and inch or so extra width to each side. Then I would suggest setting the bike up for the way you use your bike. If you ride long, high speed, wide open trails/tracks set the bike up for that with a larger front sprocket and/or a smaller rear sprocket - acceleration will be a little slower but your top speed will be higher. If you ride tight trails or small tracks, faster acceleration would be helpful - use a smaller front sprocket and/or larger rear sprocket - acceleration will be faster but top speed will be less. Tires can also do this for you but are more expensive and also affect ground clearance.

Jetting a carb is very important to get the most out of your bike's engine performance regardless of what mods you do to it. I am not skilled enough to instruct someone else how to do it but feel comfortable doing my own. If you are mechanically inclined and have some mechanical common sense there are some helpful tutorials available that will help you out - try out the search feature. Main thing is to find the jet to adjust/change based on the rpm range. There are 4 main adjustments that I can think of - pilot jet, air/fuel screw, needle jet and main jet. Many manuals have a chart showing what rpm range they affect - ie - idle, 1/4 throttle, 1/2 throttle, wide open throttle. Each jet overlaps the next. Unless you want to learn how to, know someone that can or are willing to pay someone else to jet it, I would avoid making any exhaust, carb or air box mods mentioned earlier.

Add some wheel spacers or hubs mentioned earlier to add some stability, which helps with cornering and get it geared for your riding area using tires and/or sprockets and I bet you will enjoy the changes. What type of riding do you do? Wide open, full throttle in open spaces or tight, short bursts going up and down through the gears?
